THE GRASS DANCE OF NATIVE AMERICANS

A long time ago, a Native American lay down to sleep in the grass of the North American prairies. In a vision, the grass asked to be honored in a traditional grass dance. To do so, grass was added to the regalia worn by the young man. Thereafter, wherever he went, there would be food for his horse. Honoring grass in this fashion became part of the tradition. Nature thrives on appreciation.

(This language vibrates at the bridge of the nose, a very smooth melody, a soft whisper)
Are you beings?
Yes?
What are you?
We live in grass. We sway in harmony with the wind, while rooted in the earth. We have roots and wings. We dance with the wind, our roots firmly planted in the earth.
Praise Mother and Father, sing for joy.
Drink the water from the rain, emotion to feed the roots, emotion to help you fly.
